[ARCHIVED] Davids’ Secures Federal Funds For Recovery Power On Critical Water Infrastructure

WaterOne will receive federal funding for important upgrades at its Ralph Wyss pump station and reservoir. The pump station facility maintains critical water pressure and storage capacity for neighborhoods in southwest Johnson County. The funding provides $4.8 million which will go towards the installation of a back-up engine generator system for the facility, ensuring continued service in the event of a regional power outage or emergency. The project was nominated for funding by Kansas Representative Sharice Davids as part of a broader 2022 Federal Omnibus funding bill.

“The resilience of water service is the backbone of Kansas communities,” said Mike Armstrong, General Manager of WaterOne. “Rep. Davids’ support of securing federal funds for this emergency power generator at WaterOne facilities helps us further safeguard reliable water service to over 400,000 Kansans and businesses.”
