Mike Armstrong, WaterOne’s General Manager, is retiring following 25 years of service to the water district. Effective December 1st, Director of Legal & Auditing Eric Arner will serve as acting General Manager while the Governing Board conducts a rigorous executive search process.
The General Manager is the chief executive officer of the organization. The GM is charged with providing a safe, reliable, and high-quality water supply with superior service and value while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of operations. The GM must operate under the appropriate Kansas and Federal laws and regulations and follow the Board objectives as set forth in policies, resolutions, and directives. In practice, the GM is primarily responsible for daily operations of the utility through directing and facilitating the management of senior leadership, facilitating the Board’s experience of governing and focus on strategic direction, and managing external stakeholder relations.
Selecting a new GM is the responsibility of WaterOne’s Governing Board. WaterOne will be using an independent executive search firm to assist the Board with the search and selection process.
Congratulations to Mike Armstrong on your retirement, and thank you for 25 years of exceptional service to WaterOne!
