WaterOne Wins National Contest, Declared “America’s Best Tasting Drinking Water”

WaterOne has been declared “America’s Best Tasting Drinking Water” in the Great American Water Taste Test, a nation-wide contest for water utilities sponsored by the National Rural Water Association (NRWA). In the Great American Water Taste Test, water systems are judged by a panel of experts on the clarity, bouquet, and taste of their water.

The award was presented at the NRWA Virtual Water Rally on Thursday, February 11th. WaterOne competed against 24 other entries from across the country.

“Throughout the pandemic, it’s especially important to recognize the vital role the water industry plays in protecting public health,” said WaterOne General Manager Mike Armstrong. “We’re humbled and honored by this award, and I want to thank all of our employees for the amazing effort they’ve put forth this past year.”

WaterOne has received consistent recognition for the aesthetic qualities of its water, winning recent top honors by the regional chapters of both the American Water Works Association and the National Rural Water Association. In addition to meeting or surpassing all standards for water quality, WaterOne is committed to investment in its facilities and treatment methods. The district recently constructed and began using facilities for Ozone Water Treatment, which is a powerful, natural water treatment method that is highly effective for treating taste and odor compounds in source water.

“Our top priority is producing water that is not just safe, but also clean, clear, and delicious,” said Director of Production Michelle Wirth. “WaterOne is committed to providing our 455,000 customers with great tasting drinking water, and contests like the Great American Water Taste Test affirm our water is among the best in the country. I want to thank our staff, who have been able to meet every challenge this past year, as well as recognize our peers in the water industry who are dedicated to providing safe drinking water for their communities.”
