Boil Advisory Issued For Mission, KS Neighborhood

In an abundance of caution, WaterOne has issued a temporary boil advisory for the following properties: 5932-5936 Outlook Street, 5940 -5944 Outlook Street, 5800 Martway Street, 5929 Outlook Street, 5933-5939 Outlook Street. Customers outside of these properties are not affected. WaterOne has sent out a NotifyJoCo alert. You can go to NotifyJoCo.org to create or update your information.

The boil advisory is in effect from Tuesday, August 22nd after noon (as soon as the water is restored from the main break in your area) and will remain in effect until The Kansas Department of Health & Environment certifies testing and will officially rescind the boil advisory. This information will be communicated directly to affected customers via NotifyJoCo and letters on your door.

The boil advisory was issued as a precautionary measure following a main break that occurred while installing a new main for your area. There is no evidence of contamination, but the advisory has been issued out of an abundance of caution and in consideration of WaterOne’s very high water quality standards. The advisory will be lifted as soon as testing is completed, which takes approximately 24 hours pending results and certification. As a precaution, it is recommended that water be boiled for two minutes before consumption until the advisory is lifted and ice cubes be thrown out. If you plan on washing dishes for food consumption, boil your dishwater for two minutes. The advisory only affects water for consumption – all other uses such as cleaning, bathing, brushing teeth, or watering plants continues to be safe for use, however, if you’re concerned about your water for other uses, you can boil it as a precaution.

Thank you for your understanding as we are taking measures to protect your health. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our Customer Care line at 913-895-1800.

UPDATE 8/23/2023: The Boil Advisory has been extended for an additional 24 hours. The purpose of the boil advisory extension is to conduct additional testing. Please follow the recommendations below regarding boiling water. WaterOne has bottled water available in your common areas. We appreciate your patience as we work to protect you.

UPDATE 8/24/2023: Following successful test results, the Boil Advisory has been officially rescinded by the Kansas Department of Health & Environment. Water is certified safe to consume. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to ensure water safety.
