WaterOne Releases 2021 Water Quality Report

WaterOne has released its 2021 Water Quality Report, now available at waterone.org/2021Report. WaterOne is pleased to report that its water meets or surpasses all standards for safe and high-quality water, and that water produced by WaterOne consistently ranks among the best for purity, reliability, and taste.

The Annual Water Quality Report features detailed information and explanations about the make-up of WaterOne’s water over the previous year. Descriptions of WaterOne’s treatments methods, production volume, and water sources are also provided. The report was generated based on the results of WaterOne’s state-of-the-art water treatment lab, which ran over 15,000 tests on more than 23,000 water samples in 2020 to ensure that its water meets quality standards. Landlords, businesses, schools, and other groups with water users who do not receive a bill directly from WaterOne are encouraged to make their communities aware of the report’s availability. Paper reports will be available at most Johnson County Library locations and WaterOne Administrative Offices, located at 10747 Renner Boulevard in Lenexa.

Clean, great tasting tap water is produced through continued diligence in infrastructure investment and professional standards. WaterOne’s success is the result of its award-winning treatment process which produces consistently delicious drinking water. The district recently constructed and began using facilities for Ozone Water Treatment, which is a powerful, natural water treatment method that is highly effective for treating taste and odor compounds in source water.

In 2021, WaterOne was declared “America’s Best Tasting Drinking Water” in the Great American Water Taste Test, a nation-wide contest for water utilities sponsored by the National Rural Water Association (NRWA). In the Great American Water Taste Test, water systems are judged by a panel of experts on the clarity, bouquet, and taste of their water.

“Our top priority is producing water that is not just safe, but also clean, clear, and delicious,” said Director of Production Michelle Wirth. “WaterOne is committed to providing our 455,000 customers with great tasting drinking water. I want to thank our staff, who have been able to meet every challenge this past year, as well as recognize our peers in the water industry who are dedicated to providing safe drinking water for their communities.”

Tap water is also local, environmentally friendly, and comes with significant value - less than half a penny per gallon delivered to the customer’s tap for the average residential customer.  More information about WaterOne can be found at waterone.org, and for facts about why tap water matters, visit ILoveTap.org.
