Like lead, most copper in drinking water comes from the plumbing in your home. Copper can leach into the water through corrosion.
In order to reduce exposure to copper and lead, WaterOne controls the corrosivity of its water. If you are concerned about copper in your water, you can have your water tested by a certified laboratory. If you choose to purchase a home treatment system to remove copper, make sure it is independently certified for that purpose through an organization such as NSF International.
More information about copper in drinking water can be found on U.S. EPA's site.
Public safety is our priority. If WaterOne were to detect a harmful substance in the water supply, we are required by law to notify the public. To ensure we reach you with important information about water quality and your water service, sign-up for Notify JoCo.
