Kay Heley brings over 30 years of public health nursing experience to the Board from hospitals in KCK and KCMO, the Wyandotte County Health Department, and as a Shawnee Mission School District school nurse. Having seen the health impacts of unsafe water as a Peace Corps Volunteer, Kay is committed to the education and engagement of our community to protect our precious resource. Continuing to meld sustainable practices, planning and governance into WaterOne’s strategic plan is a key priority for Kay.
Kay also brings to the Board a lifetime of volunteering, whether in PTA, Climate Action KC, League of Women Voters, community advocacy or her faith community. She is honored to have served on the WaterOne Board since 2018. A graduate of Shawnee Mission North, she earned a BA from Yale University and a BSN in Nursing and an MA in Global and International Studies from the University of Kansas. Kay serves on the Climate Change Committee for the American Water Works Association from which she earned certification as an AWWA Public Water Official.
