WaterOne Board Sworn In, Reese Appointed Chair
At its meeting on January 9th, Brenda Cherpitel, Bob Reese, and Kay Heley were sworn in to their elected positions as Board members on the WaterOne Governing Board. Their terms run from 2017 to 2021.
Kay Heley is the newest member, joining the board following her election to Board Position 3. Heley is a health care professional and former Peace Corp health educator with over 30 years of public health nursing experience. Heley holds a B.S. in Nursing, an M.A. in Global & International Studies from the University of Kansas, and a B.A. from Yale University in Political Science with an emphasis in Biology.
The Board also voted to appoint Bob Reese as Board Chair, with Mark Parkins serving as Vice Chair. The Board Chair’s duties primarily include conducting meetings, making Board appointments to committees, and being a primary Board contact with WaterOne's General Manager.
WaterOne is an independent, non-profit water utility serving over 400,000 people in the Johnson County area. It is led by a seven-member Governing Board, elected at-large by the residents of the service area. As a non-taxing public utility, the main responsibility of the governing body is to set the policies under which the utility runs.
